The US National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) published a report estimating that the use of an electric tractor can provide a 50 per cent reduction in energy consumption versus diesel fuel. The analysis mentions that additional savings could be expanded by electrifying other agricultural vehicles not involved in field crop production, such as pickup trucks and trucks, which also consume fossil fuels.
